About
Hi!, we are Dan & Elaine Miller, owners of Big River Resort. We purchased the old Wabasha Motel & RV in January of 2003. Elaine operates the Resort and Dan runs his business, Dan Miller Construction, Inc. We both grew up in the Wabasha area and feel fortunate that we have been able to raise our family and live and work here. This is home - we love the area and the people! We are happy to be your guides: on the river, around the city of Wabasha, and in the quaint little towns that line the Mississippi River! See Elaine if you are interested in a relaxing afternoon drive - she can direct you to some unique areas that will get you off the beaten track!

This is our family. We have three children. Ted is our oldest, and he and his girlfriend, Mariah, live in CA. Andrea and her husband Brad and their baby, Thomas, live in Mazeppa, MN, and our youngest, Nick and his wife Nina live in Chicago, IL.

This is our golden retriever, Jake. If he could, he would spend every moment with Dan. Unfortunately he can’t, so he spends his time with Elaine at the Resort! Jake’s favorite things are duck hunting with Dan and spending time on the river with his friend Barney.

Dan has been a builder here in Wabasha since 1982. These are some of the homes he has built. Dan also built the cabin, and does all the repair/remodeling work here at the Resort.

When we bought Wabasha Motel & RV, it was a small Mom & Pop motel. Since we bought it, each year we have improved the property is some way - from new forms of advertising and adding wireless internet to new furniture and more outlets in the motel and a new shower/bathroom and laundry for our RVers - it's a long list! We have made these improvements because this is what we heard was needed or wanted - we feel that we have listened to our guests, and we hope that they appreciate our efforts. It is our desire to continue to provide value to our guests at the best possible price.

2014 is a transformational year for our business! We have added 14 more RV sites - 3 of those are Park Model sites. We are updating the look of the outside of the main building. We have changed our name to more clearly reflect what we are: our new name is "Big River Resort". We are excited about these changes and have many more plans for the future!
